I was expecting the almost full page of excellent quality 6"x6.5" picture that I have enjoyed with the Workman Publishing calendars. Instead it is ordinary paper with a 3" square image. And a black plastic holder, instead of Lucite. It's OK, but disappointing after the other higher quality product. I've enjoyed the Workman calendars mainly for the daily changing pictures. This calendar is perhaps a bit more functional, with an image of the full month on each page and a tiny open space of plain paper that could accommodate a very small notation. And it is exceptional in that it provides a bit of information about each bird, including their size and range. But the image is very small, so you have to get close to appreciate them. The promotional image on the cover implies something quite different.Product details

Bought this as a gift and the recipient loves it. Highly recommend.
I admit, I used this to make flashcards so I could learn North American birds better. This had a good selection of birds, and a good description for each.
We have used and enjoyed the Sibley "The Birder's Year" calendars for several years. The detailed information is interesting and informative. As birders, we appreciate the daily change of emphasis about birds that we sometimes know and other times don't. It is a morning habit now and we would really miss this calendar.
Disappointing format as the birds are all in the same category with no mixing of species. I would much rather see a mix instead of all the ducks for a month in a row. The Audubon grouping is much better. Also it is hard to see where on the small maps on each page the ranges are for the various times of the year. I suppose this would appeal to the much more scientific bird watcher population.
